The AAU Taekwondo program is pleased to announce the addition of a Special Needs Division being included in our National Championships this year. The competition this year is being added as a Demonstration Sport. This event is for Taekwondo athletes with Physical, Emotional and Developmental disabilities including, but not limited to, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Paraplegic (wheel-chair), Blind, Deaf, Dwarfism, etc.There will be 3 separate levels of divisions based on abilities (please see information sheets below). The competition will consist of Forms & Point Sparring.
These divisions will be showcased as a Demonstration Sport this year in the hope that it will garner much attention and desire to include it permanently in our National program in the future. CLICK HERE for the Special Needs Division Rules.
