2008 World Junior Championships

Congratulations to five AAU  Junior Team Members who made the

US National Junior Team and competed May 7 - 11 against the best in the world at the 7th World Junior Championships in Izmir, Turkey.

Salina won five fights to win Gold and became the Junior World Champion.  What an amazing feat.  Olie won four fights then lost to Korea 2-1 to earn Bronze.  Victoria had a bye in the first round and then lost 4-3 in the second round to the eventual Bronze medal winner from Azerbaijan. Gabriella also had a bye in the first round and then lost 3-2 to Turkey.  Thomas won his first two fights then lost in overtime to Turkey, the eventual Bronze medal winner.

The deadline date for hotel reservations at the Madison Concourse hotel--our headquarters--is MAY 18th.  After that date they will not guarantee the room availability or the contracted rate!  Make your plans now!

 

So far over 7000 athletes have qualified to compete in Madison.  

With 36 qualifiers completed and 4 to go we anticipate a great event.

Uniform Requirement Update For National Events

The letters “AAU”, “USA”, State Name and Team Name (non offensive) may be worn on the lower rear portion of the dobok top. The AAU National Team Member Uniforms and the AAU National Championships’ Uniforms are acceptable. 

Refer to the 'AAU Taekwondo Rule Book' under 'General Competition Guidelines' for all other equipment and uniform requirements.

AAU Referee Officiates at the German Open

In addition to the AAU Taekwondo Team’s strong performance at the 2008 German Open, another milestone was achieved for the program. The Chair of the Technical Rules Committee, Scott Fiorillo, represented AAU Taekwondo as a referee for the event.  Mr. Chuong Pham was instrumental in securing officiating opportunities throughout Europe for AAU Taekwondo referees.

2007 - 2008 AAU Membership is Available

 

AAU Membership runs from September 1, 2007 - August 31, 2008

AAU Membership is required by Athletes, Coaches and Officials

to participate in all AAU sanctioned events.

Membership benefits include accident insurance (which is secondary and applicable after any primary coverage) for all properly sanctioned AAU events and supervised practices of member clubs.

$12 for Athletes 17 years and under 

$22 for Athletes 18 years and up

$14 for Coaches
