2015-16 AAU TAEKWONDO TEAM TRIALS

The AAU Taekwondo Program will be hosting its’ 2016 National Team Trials the weekend of September 11-13, 2015 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Our headquarters hotel will be the Hilton Marina Hotel located at 1881 SE 17th Street).  A special AAU Rate of $99.00 has been secured.  This discounted rate is only good for a short time, so please make your reservations immediately! 

Weigh-in for our Cadet (12-14) athletes awill take place on Friday, September 11th between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the Hilton Marina Hotel.  This group of Team Trial Candidates will then compete on Saturday, September 12th starting at 9:00 AM.  Juniors will weigh-in at the Convention Center on Saturday, September 12thbetween the hours of 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM with competition scheduled for Sunday, September 13th at 9:00 AM.  All competition will take place at the Broward County Convention Center (same location as our National Championship). 

All registrations (including coaches) MUST be made through our Online Registration system.  The registration deadline for both athletes and coaches will be midnight August 13th —no exceptions!  Any athlete candidate not registered by this date/time will automatically be disqualified from competition.  While you will be allowed to register now for Team Trials using your 2015 AAU Membership number, please be advised that you will be required to show your new 2016 Membership Card at check in (for coaches) and weigh-in (for athletes). 

Coaches wishing to coach at the Team Trials must have completed the 2015 Online Coaches Certification Course.  Again, no exceptions.  If you have not yet completed the course you may do so PRIOR to registering for Team Trials. 

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR THOSE 18 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER. 

With the beginning of the 2013 AAU Fiscal/Membership year, new procedures were put into place by the AAU that seriously affect how long it takes to secure your AAU Membership (card).  A time frame of 15 days could be expected!  Please be sure and register as early as possible (August 15th) in order to secure your 2016 AAU Membership prior to AAU Taekwondo Team Trials.  No exceptions can be made.  No card?  No participation!  APPLY EARLY! 

For those who qualified for this event through the 2015 National AAU Taekwondo Championship by placing 1,2,3,3 in your respective weight class, be advised if you placed in the Cadet 12-14 year old age brackets you will compete in the 12-14 Cadet Division at Trials.  If you placed in the 15-17 year old Junior Division, you will compete as a 15-17 year old at Trials.  In either case, you MUST make weight within the exact same weight category.  Failure to do so will result in your disqualification at weigh-ins.  

Returning Team Members will be allowed to move in weight class.  However, you must declare your weight during your online registration AND you must make weight in THAT weight class or be disqualified. 

The AAU Taekwondo Program management would like to wish everyone the very best of luck at the upcoming 2016 Team Trials.  At the same time, we caution you (and your coaches) to BE ON TIME!  Register prior to the deadline.  Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale.  Do whatever it is you want/need to do prior to check-in/weigh-in but do not show up late for this critical aspect of the event.  If you miss the weigh-in hours, you will be disqualified!  Watch your weight.  You MUST make weight—no allowances whatsoever to the respective weight class limits—both lower and upper.  See you in Ft. Lauderdale!
