Each year at the AAU National Championship, special Team Cups are awarded in each of the three (3) categories of competition; Forms, Point Sparring, and Olympic Sparing. Individual athletes earn points based on their performance with six (6) points awarded for Gold, three (3) for Silver, and one (1) for Bronze (uncontested Gold medals are awarded three points).
At the end of each category of competition 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place cups are awarded to the winning clubs, having tracked TEAM points by associating athletes with Instructor Last Name.
This year’s Club Champions in first place with a total of 114 points was United Instructors of Puerto Rico under the direction of Master Louis Pena. In second place with 84 points was Big Sky Martial Arts from Montana under the direction of John Paul Noyes. And rounding it out in third place with 79 points was the OTT Club from Texas under the tutelage of Mario Romero.
