AAU TAEKWONDO ATHLETES SHINE IN TAIPEI CITY

The International Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Taekwondo only chose six (6) U.S. athletes to represent the United States and two (2) of those superior athletes are current AAU members Ms. Michelle Gonciarz and Ms. Kendall Yount.  Athletes, Kendall Yount, Michelle Gonciarz, Connor Wilson, Jonathan Healy, and Brandon Ivey competed in the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Qualifying Event (March 20th-21st) as well the World Junior Championship (March 23rd-26th). 

The United States also sent twenty (20) competitors to the World Junior Championships and four (4) of the participants are current National AAU Taekwondo Junior Team members;  Kendall Yount, Connor Wilson, Jonathan Healy and Brandon Ivey represented the United States and AAU extremely well.

Kendall Yount took silver at the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Qualifying Event and has earned a bid to the Youth Olympic Games.  The World Junior Championship also ended with AAU members on the medal stand.  Brandon Ivey took home the gold while Jonathan Healy was awarded the bronze medal.  Connor Wilson advanced to the quarterfinals but just narrowly missed the medal stand.

Congratulations to all of these hard-working and dedicated athletes.  The competitors have not only represented our country, but also our schools and the AAU extremely well. 

We know that all of these great athletes will continue to do great things in the future.
