The AAU Taekwondo Program filled a year long void in its’ programming needs by successfully completing an agreement with Best Martial Arts/MOOTO USA for ‘MOOTO’ to become the new “Official Martial Arts Supplier” to the AAU Taekwondo Program.

“Ever since the loss of our corporate sponsor last Fall we have been working earnestly with several other companies to fill this very basic need. Our 2010-2011 fiscal/competition year was indeed a trying one for us without the essential financial support that these kinds of partnerships provide, said National Chair for AAU Taekwondo, Michael Friello. However, at the same time these are not the kind of agreements one enters in to lightly—from either side”.

“Because of the very nature of these relationships and their long-term consequences each candidate in the partnership must be fully invested and fully confident that it (the agreement) constitutes a win-win situation for both parties. This is something neither MOOTO nor AAU entered into quickly or lightly” says Friello.

For AAU Taekwondo, our new partner had to represent the very best in long-term stability, an innovative and high-quality product line, an ever expanding attention to detail, and, of course, the ability to deliver to our customer base throughout the entire US. For James Kim and MOOTO, I’m sure many of their criteria was similar in nature—long-term financial stability (the new AAU Taekwondo Program has been here for more than 20 years now and has always ‘been in the black!), an organization willing to constantly re-evaluate their own product (Taekwondo programming), and an organization with demonstrated membership strength and even higher growth potential.

“I really appreciated the fact that when Mr. Kim and I first began discussions over a year ago, there was no rush. Yes, we (the AAU) needed to secure a new sponsor/partner we were confident in working with, but so was Mr. Kim. It was he that suggested that MOOTO first be allowed to come into our National Championship event with his product line and see how things worked out there, before taking the next step. Needless to say the 2011 National Championship in Austin, TX was a huge success on all levels.

Through our ‘Nationals’, James was able to see AAU’s professionalism in managing such a large event, witness the excitement and support of our satisfied customer base, and, of course, the financial benefit of working with AAU Taekwondo. After that experience, it was really just a matter of ironing out the details.

“AAU Taekwondo looks forward to working with James Kim and MOOTO for many, many years to come”, says Mr. Friello. “And I’m sure that this new partnerships will deliver all the mutual benefits that we, together, anticipate”.
